Camp Huckins Eligibility Criteria

Camp Huckins Eligibility Criteria

Camp Huckins is an inclusive residential summer camp for girls. We welcome any camper who identifies as a girl or non-binary and is well served by camp’s mission. (Strengthen the Spirit, Mind, and Body of youth, families, and communities. We strive to provide an honest, respectful, and caring atmosphere where each person can grow to realize their full potential.) In order to attend, campers must be physically and emotionally prepared to fully participate in our program. They must be able to demonstrate the ability to independently, safely and cooperatively:

– Live with similarly aged campers in a cabin and take part in the social and play time of the group.

– Exhibit suitable behavior without needing more than the usual amount of individual attention.

– Be responsible for personal care, and individual health and safety.

– Communicate needs to staff.

– Follow a varied individual and group activity schedule and manage free time, moving between activity areas, with minimal supervision.

– Maneuver rugged terrain and distances between activities that are part of the natural surroundings.

– Understand and respond to group instruction for most of the activities offered at camp.

– Join in group activities that build community, such as singing, campfires and family style meals in the dining hall.

– Act appropriately in case of emergency.

– Follow Huckins’ safety policies and protocols.

– Contribute positively to the overall spirit of the camp community, practicing Huckins core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility.

While we do not specialize in programming for people with disabilities, we welcome a diverse community of participants, and we will seek safe, reasonable accommodation whenever possible.
