Step by Step Instructions on ordering Medication

Ordering Medications for the Summer of 2025 at Camp Huckins

In our ongoing commitment to ensure the safety of our campers who take any medications while at camp, we have decided to again work with Valley Independent Pharmacy (VIP) in North Conway, NH. All medications that your camper will take during their stay at camp needs to be ordered through VIP Pharmacy. VIP will package the medication and camp will pick up prior to your child’s arrival.

  • Have your Medical provider send a prescription to VIP.  See attached Provider Instructions.
  • The per camper fee and any copays will be charged to your campbank account.

Cost:  The cost for medication ordered at least 30 days prior to your camper’s arrival is your normal co-pay plus $20.00 per camper (not per medicine).  If VIP does not take your insurance, please contact our nurses at nurse@camphuckins.org.   Please be advised that if you do not go through VIP(unless approved by our nurses)you will be assessed an administrative fee of $200.

WHAT TO ORDER

All medications that your child will take while at camp including: Prescriptions, over the counter medications, vitamins, inhalers, epi pens, etc.…

Rescue Inhalers and Epi Pens:  If your child requires a rescue inhaler (this means Albuterol. Qvar and other inhalers taken on a daily basis are not rescue inhalers) or Epi-pen, and you have a supply that does not expire prior to her stay at camp, you may opt to bring them to camp with you and check them in with the nurses.  Please be advised that there is still an administrative fee of $20 and you need to contact our nurse for approval.  If you have any questions, please contact our nursing staff nurse@camphuckins.org to discuss.

Over The Counter Medications:  Our nursing staff must administer all medicine. This includes all over the counter medications.  Our Health Center is well stocked with Tylenol, Motrin, cough medicine, etc. that would be administered on an as needed basis.  If your camper  takes an over the counter medication every day (e.g., allergy medicine), you need to order that through VIP.  If you are unsure if you need to order an over the counter medication with VIP, please contact our nursing staff at nurse@camphuckins.org and they will advise you if they stock the medicine your child takes.

Vitamins/Supplements:  As there are 380 campers and 2 nurses on duty, we ask that you refrain from sending multivitamins or supplements UNLESS they are prescribed by your childs Health Care Provider.   Vitamins/supplements also need to be ordered through VIP.

WHEN TO ORDER

The last day to order medication without a rush charge is 30 days prior to your camper’s arrival.  After that you will be assessed a Pharmacy rush order charge.  Your medication is not ordered until VIP has received the prescription from your medical provider.   Please be sure to follow up with your medical provider to be sure they sent it!

Automatic Refills***Please be aware of refill timing.  If your prescriptions normally refill for 90 days and it is scheduled to refill close to summer please only refill for 30 days.  If you refill for 90 days the pharmacy will not be able to process your order.  Your camper will bring home any remaining medications.
