At Camp Huckins, there’s always something exciting to do! Our wide range of program areas offers campers the chance to explore new activities, develop skills, and have fun with friends. Before diving into each activity, campers receive orientations from staff that cover important rules, safety guidelines, and what to expect. Throughout activities, they’ll also receive continuous instruction to ensure they get the most out of their experience. Here are many activities that campers can participate in during their time at camp.

Archery
At Huckins, we offer not only physically challenging sports, but also activities that require mental focus and concentration. Our archery range provides campers with the chance to explore a precision sport in a supportive and encouraging environment. Archery helps build confidence, promotes patience, and allows campers to try something new and exciting.
At the range, campers will learn how to safely handle and shoot a bow and arrow under the guidance of our trained staff. Our Archery program is led by knowledgeable instructors who prioritize safety while making the experience fun and engaging for everyone.ARCHERY

From ceramics, jewelry making, painting, gimp, tie-dyeing, and beading—our arts and crafts area, The Craftshop, is a creative space where campers can explore their artistic side! Campers can join in on daily featured craft specials or drop in to create a masterpiece of their own design.

Basketball
Basketball at Camp Huckins is all about teamwork, energy, and fun! Whether you’re a beginner learning the basics or a seasoned player looking to sharpen your skills, our outdoor court and indoor sports complex are the perfect place to play.

Canoeing
Canoeing at Huckins focuses on building communication and teamwork skills. Campers will receive basic instruction on paddling and canoe handling, learning how to work together to navigate the water. Effective communication is key as campers practice coordinating their strokes and problem-solving as a team.

Dance & Drama
Campers receive fun and engaging instruction in the fundamentals of dance and theater. Beyond just learning steps or lines, this program fosters creativity, boosts self-confidence, and gives campers the opportunity to express themselves—and have some fun along the way! Each session wraps up with a play or talent show, where campers perform for the entire camp, showcasing their hard work and creativity.

Environmental Education
Our Environmental Education program at Camp Huckins fosters a deep appreciation for the earth’s natural resources, all amidst the pines of New Hampshire. Campers engage in hands-on learning through activities like visiting our Nature Hut, exploring our extensive gardens, and walking down our nature trail. In this program they also discover the importance of composting, recycling, and living a “green” lifestyle.
By immersing themselves in these experiences, campers develop a sense of environmental stewardship and gain valuable knowledge on how to care for and preserve our planet.ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Hiking
Camp Huckins is located just south of the beautiful White Mountain National Forest. Our mountain hiking program offers campers the opportunity to sign up for off-site day hikes tailored to their age and interests.
This elective program has an additional fee.
HIKING
Horseback Riding
Horseback riding is available to campers who have completed 4th grade and up. All campers are welcome to visit the barn during designated times to interact with our eight friendly horses. Our western-style horseback riding program is tailored for both beginner and intermediate riders.
Campers will sign up at the beginning of the session and be scheduled for at least one 1-hour ride. We also have extensive trails on-site, exclusively for horseback riding, allowing campers to explore the beautiful surroundings. For those planning to participate, we recommend packing long pants and closed-toe shoes, preferably with a heel. Helmets are provided.This elective program has an additional fee.

Kayaking at Huckins offers campers a unique way to explore the water while learning the basics of paddling and balance.

Lacrosse
Campers will learn the basics of handling the stick, making accurate passes, and improving their shooting skills, all while emphasizing collaboration and sportsmanship. It’s a fast-paced and fun way to stay active and develop strong team dynamics. Lacrosse is an instructional activity for campers who have completed 6th grade and up.

Mountain Biking
Mountain biking is offered as an instructional activity for campers who completed 5th grade and up. Campers receive proper instruction, and helmets are provided. With designated bike trails on site, campers can safely explore and enjoy the outdoors while building confidence and coordination. Afternoon bike rides are scheduled and announced regularly, giving campers the chance to go on longer rides and further develop their skills.

Paddleboarding
Paddleboarding is a fun way for campers to enjoy the lake while learning balance, paddling technique, and water safety. Whether standing or kneeling, it helps build strength, coordination, and confidence all while enjoying the water!

Pickleball
Pickleball is a fun and fast-paced game that can be played on one of our 9 outdoor courts or the indoor court inside the sports complex. Campers of all skill levels can enjoy instruction and free play, improving their coordination, strategy, and teamwork.

Ropes Course
The Ropes Course at Camp Huckins is designed to strengthen problem-solving skills, teamwork, and to push campers outside their comfort zones. Our course features low-ropes elements, all operated with strict attention to safety standards and inspected annually by a certified Challenge Course inspector. Each obstacle encourages campers to work together, communicate effectively, and support one another to achieve a common goal. Campers often leave the course with a stronger sense of cooperation, increased confidence, and improved social skills.
ROPES COURSE
Sailing
Sailing gives campers the chance to learn the basics of sailing or build on existing skills out on the lake. Our fleet includes Sunfish and Rocket sailboats (single-handed dinghys), as well as Hobie Waves (catamaran). Campers learn rigging, steering, tacking, and sailing safety under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Soccer
Soccer at Huckins is a fun and basic introduction to the sport. Campers learn simple skills like passing, dribbling, and shooting, while playing in a relaxed and supportive environment. The focus is on teamwork, movement, and having fun on the field.

Swimming
Each morning, campers take part in instructional swim classes designed to help them grow their skills and confidence in the water. In the afternoons, it’s time for free swim, where campers can enjoy the lake at their own pace.
There are opportunities a couple times a summer to be a part of the Huckins swim team that races against other camps!
SWIMMING
Tennis
Huckins has four outdoor tennis courts, including one with a backboard, and a fully stocked sports cabin with rackets and tennis balls—no need to bring your own. Basic instruction is offered during daily activity periods, and the courts are open for camper use during free time each afternoon. Campers may also have the opportunity to join the Huckins tennis team, which occasionally plays matches against other camps!

Waterskiing
Campers who pass the outside area swim test are eligible to sign up for waterskiing. With two ski boats, Camp Huckins offers plenty of opportunities for campers to get out on the water—most will ski at least once or twice during their session. No prior experience is needed, and many campers try waterskiing for the first time at camp.
This elective program has an additional fee.
