GETTING READY FOR CAMP

Q: How do parents handle two drop-offs (2 or more campers in different divisions)?

A: We will have you start in the younger division and then move up. We can walk you through it on arrival!

Q: Can you pls touch on the drop off/pick up process when balancing between Huckins and Belknap campers?

A: Sure! The nice thing this year is we are doing check-in at different times, with Huckins in the morning and Belknap in the afternoon. For pick-up, we are happy to be flexible since our pick-up times are in the same window

Q: Are campers allowed to bring candy, snacks or bottled water to camp?

A: No candy in the cabins. We ask that you leave all food/drinks/water at home as food in cabins can attract bugs and animals!  Camp will provide snacks twice during the day.  Our water comes from a drilled well and is tested by the state multiple times each summer.

Q: Can you bring both a trunk and drawers?  Can we bring milk crates?

A:  You can bring both a trunk and drawers! Just make sure they meet the size requirements stated in the What to Pack document you received.
You cannot bring milkcrates.  There isn’t really room for them with the fire exits.

Q:  What size trunk do you need?

A:  The trunk size is on the packing list. You can find it on the website, https://camphuckins.crackmedia.net/preparing-for-camp/.  You can also find a few different options for trunks on the packing list.

Q: Do you need a hanging organizer or can you borrow drawers?

A: You can borrow drawers. Please contact the office prior to coming to camp so you can reserve one. You do not need a hanging organizer.

Q: Do they give you the clothes for the photos?

A: Campers should bring dark shorts and a white shirt for the photos. Campers receiving financial aid can contact the office if you would like us to provide them.  Please contact the office prior to coming to camp so you can reserve one.

Q:  Are music players allowed? I see CD players on the list.

A: You can bring music devices if they are battery operated (No iPods or MP3 Players). Plug in devices or anything that can connect to the internet/cellular are not allowed. Personal CD players with headphones are acceptable.

Q: Are sound machines used or allowed?

A:  We don’t allow sound machines, but there is a fan in each cabin that is like a sound machine.

Q:  Are Kindles allowed?  If not are there books to borrow?

A: No kindles or electronics. But we have lots of books in our camp library you can borrow!

Q: Can I bring my own items from home: lego set, field hockey stick, soccer mitt, musical instrument?

A:  Please remember things like this can get lost or damaged, so it may be better to leave them at home.  Feel free to reach out to the office about specific items.

Q: What if you don’t bring bug spray? Will counselors help campers apply or encourage campers to use?

A: We have bug spray and sunscreen. Counselors will remind campers and departments staff will ask before activities start if they need it!

Q: What do you need to bring for horseback riding?

A: Long pants and close-toed shoes are needed

Q: Do you need boots?

A: No. Some campers bring rain boots in case of rain.

Q: What types of dress up clothes for themes do we ne…”:

A: 1 or 2 fun shirts or costumes, different colored t-shirts. We also have things to make costumes.

Q: How hot or cold is it at night?

A: It really varies. Some days get into the 90’s, but other days if it’s rainy it might be in the high 60’s. Nighttime varies year to year so it doesn’t hurt to bring a sweatshirt to be safe

Q: Do you need to bring enough clothes for every day or do you just bring like 10 pairs.

A: There is a recommended packing list on our website. Here’s the link https://camphuckins.crackmedia.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Packing-List-2025.pdf
