Q: Do we sing at every meal? How do we learn the songs?
A: There are songbooks at every table in the dining hall. By the end of the 2 weeks, you will know the songs by heart!!
Q: Do you sit with your cabin for meals?
A: YES
Q: How do kids get and/or when/what are snacks?
A: There will be snacks twice during the day provided by camp.
Q: Are there vegetarian or gluten free meal options?
A: Yes, if the meal is not already vegetarian there are always vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options. Make sure you have noted your specific meal plan options on your camper paperwork
Q: If someone has a nut allergy, how do you handle other campers bringing Pb&j to the table? Is the sunflower butter?
A: Our Dining Hall is peanut butter-free and we do not use any tree nuts or peanuts in any meals we serve. We serve Wow butter.
Q: What do you offer for desserts?
A: Dessert is at dinner, and it might be ice cream, cookies, cake.
Q: Is there ice cream for hot days?
A: Sometimes we have ice cream at dinner! On hot days, we will have Gatorade at meals to keep us cool and hydrated.
Q: What happens if none of the food options are safe to you because of allergies
A: Reach out to Joel, our amazing chef at chef@camphuckins.org to talk about allergies, food at camp, and to make a plan. Make sure you have listed all your known allergies on the Camper Health Questions and Medical Form. If there is something you forgot or is new send an email to the office.
Q: What do parents usually send for birthdays?
A: We will provide a birthday cake, the counselors will make signs, and the Dining Hall will sing Happy Birthday. We make it really special! Be sure you have completed the Birthday Cake form on your camp dashboard.
Q: Do you have a dairy free milk option?
Yes, we will have oatmilk available at every meal on the Dairy-Free cart.
Q: Are there fruits other than apples?
A: We will have lots of other fresh fruit available at meals: bananas, oranges, peaches, plums, cherries, etc…
